Have you thought about going back to school to get your education? If you are not sure if you want to make the investment, or if such an investment is actually going to help you boost your bottom line, realize it has a real potential to do so.
Why Go Back
It is easier than ever to get your education. You can enroll in online learning and learn while you are working, if you want to. You will find a variety of continuing education programs readily available, too. Many ask why they should go back, though.
- You will become more valuable to your employer by improving your career skills. This makes it harder to get rid of in the event of downsizing in the company. It also makes it more likely you will advance in the company.
- You may be able to enhance your skills. This may translate into having an easier time doing your job the way your employer wants you to do it. It may also mean that you have better insight into what your employer wants from you.
- In many cases, those who have a higher degree level get paid more. Find out if your employer pays those with an upper level degree more just because that person has a higher degree.
If you are thinking about going back to school, consult with your employer about your goals. Many will offer you advice on if it will help you to advance in your current position or what type of degree could help you to move up within the company. In other cases, you may be looking for a new job or career.
